Report: Elon Musk could become a US policy adviser if Trump wins a second term in the White House

The report highlights Elon Musk’s increasing alignment with the Republican Party and his criticism of President Biden’s policies on immigration, electric vehicles, and tariffs. Despite stating that he won’t financially support Trump or Biden, Musk has pledged to rally influential business leaders to oppose Biden.

According to a Wall Street Journal report, former President Donald Trump, the leading Republican candidate for the upcoming November election, is considering Musk as a policy adviser if he regains the presidency. This consideration arises amidst Musk’s growing endorsement of the Republican Party and his disapproval of Biden’s policies.

Discussions between Musk and Trump have included potential formal roles for Musk in shaping economic and border security policies. Additionally, Musk has informed Trump about his campaign to persuade powerful business figures not to support Biden. These talks, which also involved billionaire investor Nelson Peltz, included discussions on funding a project to prevent voter fraud, although details remain scarce. Neither Trump nor Musk’s representatives, nor Biden’s campaign, responded immediately to the report.

Trump campaign spokesperson Brian Hughes stated that only Trump will determine individuals’ roles in his presidency. Musk, one of the world’s richest people, has previously claimed he won’t donate to either candidate but will leverage his influence to defeat Biden by rallying influential allies.

Musk has been vocally critical of Biden, accusing him of encouraging immigration for electoral gains, despite non-citizens being ineligible to vote. Historically, Musk has donated to both parties, positioning himself as politically independent.

Facing recent financial setbacks, Trump is seeking major contributors for his presidential campaign. Musk, with a net worth exceeding $200 billion, could significantly counterbalance Biden’s expected financial advantage in the 2024 election.

However, Musk’s criticism of Biden has impacted his reputation among some consumers. A CivicScience survey and data from market intelligence firm Caliber show a decline in consumer interest in Tesla, which many Americans associate with Musk. Despite controversies, including his endorsement of Republican views and contentious comments on social media, Musk maintains he remains “reasonably popular.”
