“We are dedicated to strengthening our relationship,” says PM Modi to Meloni in response to Italy’s PM congratulating him on his election win.

Prime Minister Modi expressed his gratitude to Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni for her congratulations on his electoral victory, reaffirming his commitment to strengthening the strategic partnership between India and Italy. Modi’s response emphasized shared values and interests as the foundation for future cooperation.

Following the BJP-led NDA’s success in forming a third consecutive government at the Centre, Modi received congratulations from several international leaders. The election results showed the NDA securing 291 seats, the opposition INDIA bloc winning 234 seats, and other parties obtaining 18 seats.

Modi acknowledged Meloni’s warm wishes on social media, expressing enthusiasm for collaborative efforts aimed at global betterment. The Italian Prime Minister had previously conveyed her congratulations and highlighted the anticipated strengthening of bilateral relations.

In the recent elections, the BJP emerged as the largest party in the Lok Sabha, winning or leading in 240 seats. Key allies such as the TDP and JD(U) contributed to the NDA’s position, leading or winning 16 and 12 seats in Andhra Pradesh and Bihar, respectively, ensuring the alliance reached the 272-majority mark.

Additionally, leaders from neighboring countries extended their congratulations. Sri Lankan President Ranil Wickremesinghe and Nepalese Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal ‘Prachanda’ praised Modi’s leadership and expressed their eagerness to collaborate with him. Bhutan’s Prime Minister Tshering Tobgay also congratulated Modi, looking forward to further strengthening bilateral relations between India and Bhutan.
