Musk tweeted on 27th May that his company won’t make Tesla cars in any region where they are not allowed to sell and service cars first. Musk has been repeatedly telling his Indian fans that they cannot sell cars in India until the government reduces import taxes on the vehicles, further stating that with the import duties the cost of a Tesla car will double and not many consumers would afford it.

India currently imposes a 100% duty on imported cars with Cost Insurance and Freight or CIF value which is more than 40000 USD or 30 Lakh rupees and 60% on the ones that cost less than 40K USD. Musk has also been saying that they are seeking the Indian government’s approval to start business of Starlink satellite in India.

Elon Musk has praised China stating that whatever the world thinks of China, they have been leading the world in EV manufacturing and also in renewable energy. Tesla has one of its Giga-factories in the country but has been facing supply chain issues since Covid-19 lockdowns in the country.

Musk further compared US workers with Chinese workers and said that US workers do not want to work whereas the Chinese will get the job done. He further added that strong companies will emerge from China and the country has talented and hardworking people.
